since 2011

Software with freedom, efficiency and a bit of nerve.

nanotech is an independent software studio. We build artificial intelligence, custom systems, web and embedded software, from prototype to production, always on a stack of our own.

A banana, an apple and a hackintosh

The idea came up around 2011 or 2012, on a bench at school, right about when the first hackintosh was built. If Apple had the apple, we would take the banana: "nano" came from it, half as a joke, and it stuck.

Fifteen years later the joke became a method. The banana is now made of zeros and ones, the neural network in the middle is real, and the N glows because that is how we like to work: serious about code, easy-going about everything else.

What we do

Projects that catch our attention, end to end.

Artificial intelligence

Time-series forecasting, computer vision, classification, clustering and even music composition, measured with honest metrics.

Custom software

Back ends, command-line tools and automations that solve one specific problem and keep standing after handover.

Lightweight web

Fast sites and dashboards in plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript, with no heavy build and no framework that ages before the project does.

Embedded

Firmware for ESP32 and Arduino, and C++ tooling for when software has to touch the physical world.

A stack of our own

Every project gives code back to a shared base. That base is what lets us ship fast without giving up on tests.

Python

nt-stack

The core library: types, logging, serialization, parallelism and utilities, with a dependency-free core and full branch coverage.

Shell

nt_stack.sh

The same core for shell, shipped as a single file any script can source.

Browser

web-commons

Components, charts and style tokens in one JavaScript file, shared by every interface we build, this page included.

What we believe in

  1. Freedom

Choosing the problem, the tool and the pace. Open source whenever possible.

  2. Efficiency

Fewer dependencies, less ceremony, more result per line written.

  3. Creativity

A banana made of binary code in the logo says a lot about how we think.

  4. Nerve

Building our own stack instead of only gluing ready-made parts together.

  5. Technological revolution

Knowledge is meant to circulate. Good technology changes the lives of the people who use it.

Partners

Good people who print what we design.
